How-to
How to measure your jar for a label
To size a lid label, measure straight across the top of the lid and go a little smaller so the label sits inside the edge. For a wrap label, measure the height of the flat area and the distance around the jar.
Step by step
- Pick the label type. Lid, wrap, front, top or side.
- Measure. Lid: the diameter across the top. Wrap: the height of the flat area and the distance around the jar (use a string or a soft tape). Front, top or side: the width and height of the flat face.
- Leave a margin. Labels are cut a little smaller than the surface so they sit inside the edge.
- Choose your units. Inches or millimeters both work in the label maker.
- See it on your jar. Type the size, add your logo or full label, and check the preview before you pay.

Measuring questions
Inches or millimeters?
Either. The label maker takes both.
My lid has a lip. What do I measure?
Measure the flat top inside the lip. The label is cut a little smaller so it sits inside the edge.
Round or square containers?
Round jars, tins and tubes take lid, wrap or front labels; square boxes and cases take top, front or side labels.
